On the 12th of December, 2020, UCF reached out to Nzam, Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State with Free Medical Outreach.
The Nzam people have nil access to potable water, good roads, hospitals and schools.
No pharmacist store was spotted and during the rains, the major means of transportation is by canoe.
The villages are infested with mosquitoes, so malaria is endemic in the area.
This timely outreach involved the following:
-Free vital signs assessment.
-Free blood sugar tests for all villagers in attendance.
-Free eye test, eye care and issuance of corrective glasses
-Issuance of free malaria nets to villagers, especially expectant mothers and nursing mothers.
-Free medical consultation, physical examination and administration of prescribed medication.
-Care of the hypertensive and diabetic.
-Care of old people with athritis.
-Issuance of free glucometers to diabetes patients.
-Deworming of children using potent antihelminths.
-Distribution of free sanitary pads to women and female teenagers.
-Administration of antibiotics, vitamins and analgesics to under-five children with varied infections.
This outreach benefited about 500 villagers, including children.
